Graham Holland Associates is an established practice in the field of conservation, care, repair and re-use of historic buildings and of new work in historically sensitive areas. We are able to provide architectural, design and specialist advice to a wide range of private, public and ecclesiastical clients from our offices in Winnington Hall in Cheshire and Ruthin, North Wales.

The Practice was founded in 1985 by Graham Holland with a small office in Knutsford and a second base in Ruthin, North Wales opening in 1989. This prompted the expansion of the practice, which now consists of 3 experienced Architects and support staff, with access to a variety of qualified and experienced Consultants and specialist Contractors throughout the northwest, midlands and Wales.

The practice specialises in traditional methods of detailing, using both hand-drawn and computerized formats. Our philosophy of ‘conservative’ repair mirrors that recommended by Historic England, CADW and the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), which is evidenced by our many successful grant applications for parishes.

The practice currently looks after over 50 churches, with involvement in many more, some relationships extending over many years.  With this experience, we have developed a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of ecclesiastical and heritage buildings, becoming expert in how best to maintain our historic built heritage with the effective use of limited available resources.  We believe in a ‘stich in time’ as advocated by the Taylor Review.
